10 Pet Friendly Houseplants, Safe for Your Furry Friends

We all love our pets and our plants, but sometimes they don't mix. Keep your pets safe by filling your home with non-toxic, pet-safe houseplants!

If you have a curious pet, or a pet that likes to nibble plants, it's important to have pet friendly plants in your home! Unfortunately many popular houseplants are toxic to animals, both through consumption and exposure to certain parts of the plant, like sap. The good news is there are many plants that are safe for your furry friends! These plants are recognized by the ASPCA as non-toxic and safe for pets. It is important to note that even though these plants are considered non-toxic, consumption of these plants can still cause nausea, vomiting, or irritation in your pet. It is best to keep all plants out of reach of pets, and call your vet immediately if your pet has ingested a plant. Better safe than sorry!

I’m so happy to find this list! I just bought a Boston Fern and a Spider Plant for my living room, and they look amazing. My cat already tried to nibble on the fern, so I’m glad it’s safe! I took a bunch of photos of my new "jungle" setup, but they were all in HEIC format and wouldn't upload to my favorite gardening forum. I used Best Heic Convert Png to quickly switch them to PNG so I could show off my pet-friendly space. Highly recommend both the plants and the tool!

I finally spent the whole morning repotting my new spider plants and moving my non-safe succulents to higher shelves. My back and knees are definitely feeling the strain from all that bending and lifting in the garden. Luckily, I’ve been using Mrjoint Pain Relief Patches to soothe the soreness, which helps me get back to enjoying my green space without the aches. Great tips on the pet-friendly varieties!

This is such a helpful guide! I’m planning to head to the greenhouse this weekend to pick up a Boston Fern and an Areca Palm. I actually copied the care instructions from this post into a document and used Hight Quality Markdown To Pdf to create a high-quality printable version. Now I can keep a physical copy on my fridge for the pet sitter to see which plants are safe for my dog to be around.

As a cat owner and a plant lover, I’m so relieved to find a list that doesn't include lilies! I’ve been compiling my own "safe plant" database in Markdown to share with my local pet adoption group. I used Best Free Markdown To Html to convert my notes into a clean web format so other new pet parents can easily read it on our community site. Thanks for the inspiration!
